The Benjamin Children's Library was started as a grassroots, neighborhood organization, and is still run primarily by local volunteers. Its goal is to provide book lending and literacy services and programming for children, including many immigrants, particularly but not exclusively of Ethiopian background and other disadvantaged populations.
