Talmud Torah Chochmas Shlomo in Yerushalayim is a veteran chinuch empire with a very unique approach for educating future generations. The 1,600 children who eagerly come to school each day have transformed it into the largest Talmud Torah in Israel.

Over the course of 25 years of educating wonderful talmidim, the Talmud Torah has steadily grown and developed, both in quality and in quantity – despite the overcrowded facilities. At the base of the cheder's activities is a powerful sense of mission: to inculcate the talmidim with Torah, good middos and yiras Shamayim at the highest level, with tremendous dedication and ongoing investment.

As the demand for this quality chinuch has continued to grow, the classes keep filling up – but the facilities are sorely inadequate. More and more classrooms have been moved to crowded caravans; more and more children crowd into the ever-shrinking schoolyard; the days and the years pass by with mounting anticipation for a solution.

The present crowding has become a bona fide crisis. Everyone: talmidim, parents and staff, have been waiting desperately for an opportunity to solve it.

Now, that opportunity has come.

The Talmud Torah has recently received building permits and partial funding to build a new, much-needed building, which will double the current building by adding more floors and expanding the existing structure. B'ezras Hashem, the construction will provide the talmidim with proper facilities where they can continue to thrive.

The cost of the project is over $9 million, two-thirds of which will come from external sources (the Jerusalem Municipality and philanthropists). That leaves over $3 million that the cheder's administration must raise in order to start building. Together with very generous philanthropists who have committed to a special matching campaign (a big yishar koach to the Friends of Chochmas Shlomo in Toronto, New York, Monsey, and Lakewood who made an especially outstanding effort on behalf of the Bayis LiShmi project!), this is our fundraising goal, the amount that will enable Chochmas Shlomo and the children of Yerushalayim to take advantage of this one-time opportunity to solve this severe crisis.
